EAST BURKE, Vt. (WCAX) – Bear Den Partners, the ownership group that recently took the helm of Burke and Smugglers’ Notch resorts, has officially acquired two more Northeast ski areas.
The group is picking up Berkshire East Mountain Resort in western Massachusetts and Catamount Resort in nearby Hillsdale, New York.
The Schaefer family previously owned and operated the two resorts. Jon Schaefer, along with Ken Graham, are the key partners in Bear Den Partners LLC.
The new arrangement means Burke/Smuggs season pass holders get two mid-week days at Berkshire East and Catamount, plus 50% off additional days.
The organization says its goal is to support small ski areas and keep them independent for the long haul.
