NorthWoods is happy to partner with the NEK Backcountry Coalition, a chapter of the Catamount Trail Association to lead a guided backcountry ski tour in the WIlloughby State Forest. Both NorthWoods and NEKBC work closely with the VT FPR to maintain this backcountry ski destination on Bartlett Mountain and Mount Hor, above magnificent Willoughby Lake. The summit tour is appropriate for advanced skiiers only, and requires full skins for ascent. The intermediate tour will explore the more moderate terrain of Bartlett Mountain – wide, metal edged fish-scaled backcountry skis or skins and alpine touring or telemark skis are appropriate. Bring a bag lunch, hot thermos, and plenty of warm layers, as well as alpine touring gear. Meet at 9 am at the bottom of the CCC Road at Mt Hor off Route 5A. Pre-registration encouraged so that we can update you on any changes or pertinent info.
