Lunenburg Maple Festival

March 23, 2024  |   8:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Doors open at 8:00 a.m. for an amazing Pancake Breakfast, served until 10:30 a.m.
It's quite the feast ~ pancakes, sausage, home-fries, scrambled eggs, beverages, and maple syrup provided by our local sugarmakers. (Proceeds benefit the Top of the Common Committee)

At the greeting table, visitors may sign up for the free door prizes, take along a map with driving directions to the local sugarhouses open for visitors and check out the activities at specific times during the day. Also they may choose from take-along maple-theme coloring pages, word searches, crossword puzzles, and UVM backyard sugaring handout.

10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Stop by the student-led sap boiling demonstration in the parking lot using their grant-awarded evaporator. Visit inside the school with students’ narrating and exhibiting from their sugarmaking unit study.

10:30 a.m. At the southern edge of the parking lot, learn from the students the tree tapping process as they tap one of the large maple trees. If you'd like to try your hand at it, take home the available UVM Backyard Sugaring handout!

Judging of the pie contest entries will begin at 10:30 a.m. After the winners are determined, entries will be available for purchase by the piece or as whole pies.

Beginning at noon, through 2:00 p.m., the delicious soup and bread luncheon is served. Beverages and a maple dessert are included in the meal. All the soups, breads, and desserts are homemade by our talented community cooks and bakers. (Proceeds benefit the Old Home Day Committee)

Throughout the day, enjoy and learn from interactive and photographic maple sugaring displays, antique sugaring equipment, and lively dialogs. Lunenburg has a maple sugaring heritage worthy of exploration, appreciation, and honor! Also enjoy the student poster contest entries which express their impressions of maple sugaring season and the artistic creations in fabric by entries in the "Springtime in Vermont" quilt square contest. Winners of the quilt square contest will be chosen by People's Choice vote.
