Five Burkies Compete in the 2014 Winter Olympics!

Burke, VT - Nestled in the valley of the Northeast Kingdom, Burke Mountain Academy is the oldest sports academy in the country.

 

"We're a school that's based on passion," Headmaster Kirk Dwyer says. "Kids come here because they have a passion for something. If you can find something that kids really care about, you are likely to see them have success."

Success is an understatement. Since it was founded in 1970, 130 BMA products have joined national ski teams, and more impressively, over 30 have competed in the Olympics.

 

This year, five former "Burkies" are headed to Sochi- East Montpelier's Liz Stephen, Orleans, Vermont's Ida Sargent, Warren, Vermont product Nolan Kasper, Estonia representative Warren Smith, and rising U.S. superstar and world champion Mikaela Shiffrin.....  WATCH THE VIDEO AND LEARN MORE...
